WHAT'S NEW IN MERIBEL FOR 2018/19

With millions of euros spent each year we really do get great value from our Three Valleys lift passes. This season you can look forward to new lifts, amongst many other upgrades that the lift companies have in store for us.

One of the iconic lifts of the Meribel valley, the Plan de l'homme chair lift that was at La Chaudanne is being replaced by a new 6 seater chairlift called 'Legends'. With heated seats and a canopy this is sure to be a popular choice on those chilly mornings! Staying on the Tougnete side of the valley the Cherferie drag lift is being removed and being replaced by the old Plan de l'homme chairlift- good to see that recycling even happens on the mountains.

The cabins on the Mont Vallon cable car are to be replaced with modern eight seater cabins which will make for a much more comfortable ride up to the top of Mont Vallon. Here you get one of the best views down the Meribel valley and across the Vanoise national park so it is well worth the cable car ride and of course a great descent by piste too!

Some new pistes have been created for the winter ahead. The black piste 'La Face' will have a new piste starting about half way down it and join onto the Raffort piste that leads down to the Olympic cable car in the pretty village of Le Raffort. This new piste will be called 'Daguet'. On the same side of the valley another new piste 'Gypaete' is being created and will be a red piste. This starts at the top of Choucas and it will lead towards the blue Roc de fer piste.

Other additions include an expansion of the reservoir above Meribel Mottaret which will enable snow cannons to increase making snow in this area. The Choucas piste will now have snow cannons too.

Family Friendly Activities

Meribel has so much to offer families both on and off the snow. At the Parc Olympic you will find the pool, ice skating rink and climbing wall, perfect activities for after a busy day on the slopes. This season why not visit the Inuit Village at the Altiport to build igloos, have snowball fights, play golf on snow and even meet a musher and his sled dogs. Take fun photos of your group in the giant picture frames scattered around the resort or head to the newly named Elements Park, which was the previous Moon Park to learn some freestyle!

Meribel Après Ski

Meribel is one of the prettiest villages in the Three Valleys and offers plenty of alternatives to skiing and snowboarding, such as horse-drawn sleigh rides, beautiful walks and guided snow shoe outings through the altiport forest, paragliding, ice-skating and snow mobile hire.
